Cire Trudon Abd El Kader Scented Candle
£33.00 – £200.00
Invigorating crushed mint leaves in a warm mountain breeze.
The Abd El Kader Candle by Cire Trudon is filled with warm floral mountain air and fresh Berber mint tea, transporting you to the rugged Mascara Coast. This evocative scent combines top notes of spearmint, lemon, blackcurrant bud, apple, ginger and cloves; with a middle aroma of jasmine, and creamy vanilla base.
“This bestselling green scent is full of invigorating freshness thanks to the roughly picked spearmint notes, tossed together with a cleansing mix of wild blackcurrant, chopped apple and crushed ginger. The exotic fragrance is complex but not overwhelming, with earthy and rich crushed mint leaves layered over soothing vanilla and delicate jasmine. Although not a listed scent note, some people will pick up herbal basil tones alongside the mint. Perfect for burning during the height of summer.”
– Elizabeth, Osmology Founder
“Abd El Kader is my longtime favourite — to me, it smells like Moroccan mint tea and ginger. You’ll still be literally burning money, but it will smell like no other candle you’ve ever had.”
– The Cut
“Cire Trudon’s Abd el Kader candle would make a great host gift. Unique in the world of candle scents where everything smells either orangey, smoky, or figgy, this smells like an aromatic cup of freshly brewed mint tea, the kind made using real mint leaves and not that tea-bag nonsense. It’s a rich scent without being cloying, and notes of jasmine and vanilla make it smell unlike anything you might get a whiff of in the dentist chair. You’ll never have smelled a candle like this before, trust me — and in the best way possible.”
“The Equinox hotel at New York’s dystopian city-within-a-city Hudson Yards hasn’t even opened, but it, too, has already lined up a signature candle to burn in its lobby: Cire Trudon’s Abd El Kader, which is advertised as smelling like mint and tea and tobacco and “the rashness of fights.” I recently smelled one of these $100 candles, and I can attest that I died and was revived in the same breath.”
“The mother of scented candles, Cire Trudon’s Abd el Kader, hails from France and has notes of sweet jasmine and vanilla blended with spearmint, apple and clove. The fragrance is cleverly balanced with citrusy notes of lemon and ginger. Rich and heady, and I love it.”
“Chief among the many luxuries that I like to pepper my life with is a good, ultra-luxe candle. Cire Trudon’s stand in a class their own, and the Abd el Kader scent is fresh and lovely—and can be burned any time of year. It’s a gift I love to give, but also would happily accept from a loved one.”
“And I love the smell of Cire Trudon’s Abd el Kader candle. That’s what I burn at home.”
““It has herbal notes alongside a pepperiness that provides it with a little bit of drama, and there’s a lot of body in the scent. I actually get a little bit of fresh basil and leather, so for me it’s a fresh yet very masculine scent. It would be perfect for the wood-paneled den, but since that’s hard to come by, I’d say anywhere a man gets dressed. I have them at home and never get sick of it. —David Alhadeff, owner of the Future Perfect”

“Cire Trudon is known as the oldest candlemaker in the world— even crafting scented wax and wicks for French kings. So, if anyone has perfected the art of candles it’s them. From the packaging to the actual scents, just about any option is gorgeous. But the Abd El Kader, a refreshing mix of Moroccan mint, ginger, lemon, jasmine, and vanilla, is a particularly swoon-worthy pick.”
“With a history stretching back to 1643 and clientele that includes the royal court of Louis XIV at Versailles, Cire Trudon can be trusted to deliver a luxury candle. The dark green votives light up any room and you can’t go wrong with any of their beautifully blended scents. If I had to choose one, I’d point go with Abd El Kader: bracing and verdant with notes of fresh mint and ginger.”

- Keep your candle in a dry and temperate environment, between 60 and 80° F.
- The first use of your candle should occur within the two first months after its reception.
- For optimal burning, trim your wick to 5mm before each lighting to avoid smoking and overheating.
- Always protect the surface on which the candle sits.
- The first burn of any candle should be long enough for the entire top layer of wax to liquefy. This will ensure an even burn for each light.
- To preserve the fragrance, do not burn your candle for more than 3 hours straight during the first third of the candle and 1 to 2 hours during the remaining.
- Never leave a candle burning unattended or within reach of drafts, pets, or small children.
- Candle jar will be hot after burning, so allow the wax to cool completely before handling
- Should the wick require centering, gently readjust to correct position when the wax is still molten. Allow the candle to solidify before relighting.

My all time Favourite Scent
This is hands down my favourite candle. Candle burns down very evenly, the scent fills the room whether the candle is burning or not. Will certainly be repurchasing when finished.
