Fresh, green and floral, with clover, sea pinks and sweet cicely.
The Tomb of the Eagles Candle by D.S. & DURGA takes you across the cold North Sea to the windswept Orkneys. Fresh, green and floral, the fragrance captures a sense of ancient wild places where the sonorous sea butts against jagged cliffs, themselves decorated by clover, sea pinks and sweet cicely.
“When a candle lists bones as one of it’s scent notes you’ve got to be intrigued. Thankfully rather than dusty and dead, this candle’s fragrance is more like well rested bones after a holiday somewhere wild and green. It hints at delicate white flowers and warm nettle tea, with a subtlety that works well in smaller intimate spaces.”
– Elizabeth, Osmology Founder
“The Tomb of the Eagles lays under a farm by the sea all the way up on the island of Orkney. The journey to get there is long and breathtaking. Though in Scotland, Orkney has its own culture with overtones of old Norse ways. It has the largest amount of Stone Age sites in all of Europe. It feels central to some ancient wisdom, in tune with the landscape, the sea, the standing stones, and countless ruins. The Tomb of the Eagles was discovered by a farmer digging on his own land in the 50s. He discovered people who were buried with eagle talons – perhaps so the eagles could carry their souls to heaven in the next world – no one knows for sure. I love this little mystery discovered in a hidden chamber – magic exists just around the corner of our everyday lives. The scent of the North Sea air is massive, spraying over damp lichen-covered rocks. In the wind-battered cracks I found tiny sea pinks clutching to the stones and smelling of narcotic carnation. Also, sweet cicely fronds that smelled of orange and cinnamon! Again magic just under my feet in the cracks. And the green, green grass and the clover. That’s the scent of the Tomb of The Eagles.”
– D.S. & Durga
Brooklyn perfume pioneers, D.S. & Durga have forged a cult following for their uniquely refined fragrances. Each scent conjures a fantastical world, where art, music and memory entwine. D.S. & Durga Candles have been designed to fill your spaces with uniquely intoxicating scents. Created in Brooklyn, each candle is handmade in small batches from carefully selected raw materials. Each transportive fragrance blend is mixed into vegan wax, poured into a peach glass jar and finished with a woven cotton wick.
How To Use
+ Trim your wick to 1/4" before each lighting. + Allow the melted wax pool to reach the edges of the jar before extinguishing to prevent wax from building along the sides of the jar and tunnelling. + We recommend burning for approximately 3 hours at a time, though no longer than 4 hours. + Never leave a candle burning unattended or within reach of drafts, pets, or small children. + Candle jar will be hot after burning, so allow the wax to cool completely before handling.
